We offer a variety of vehicle rental services
(car, van, mobile home, motorbike) that are sure to match your budget
and other requirements. Mention the vehicle you require on the
booking form and we will provide
you with an obligation free quote and then make the reservations on
your behalf, saving you time and money. Please remember that driving
200 kilometres in New Zealand is not the same as driving 200
kilometres on your motorways. Our roads are rather winding at times
and the scenery awesome so you'll be tempted to pull over to take
photos time and time again - that is the advantage of touring with
your own personilised itinerary.
However most importantly, please remember that
the locals are not on vacation and are quite often in a hurry to get
somewhere. So if someone is pressuring you from behind, just pull over
and allow them to pass. You will enjoy the driving much much more, and
the locals will in turn be much much more friendlier when you do
eventually cruise to your destination at your own pace! Your transport
options are:- |
|
|
|
-
Travel in comfort being chauffeur driven, with
our specialist driver/guide at your service.
-
Self-drive your rental car with a detailed
day-by-day itinerary tailored to your desires.
- The roads are full of bends
making it perfect for cruising by motorbike.
- A mobile home allows
you to stop whenever and where ever.
-
Fly over the countryside by chartered
helicopter or fixed wing airplane.

CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN TOURS |
|
Our guides are extremely proud Kiwis
and their knowledge of New Zealand is
extensive. They take pleasure
and pride in looking after your individual interests, such as -
Food & Wine, Golf or Gardens, Nature and Bird Life
or Walking Trails in our unspoiled coastal and clean green
environment. Along the way they’ll introduce you to colourful local
identities – farmers, winemakers, gardeners and chefs. Our roads are
well maintained and safe, however if you do not feel comfortable about
the idea of driving on the left hand side of the road, we will more
than happily take you around our amazing country. The price is NZD
$445 per day, this includes transport of up to 7 persons, fuel and the
chauffeur's accommodation and daily allowance costs. Gratuities are
always appreciated. |

RENTAL VEHICLES |
|
We have many types of vehicles in
our data base, ranging in size and quality. We recommend a self-drive
holiday with a car or motorbike above one with a mobile-home as the
variety of accommodation around the country is immense and they all
have one thing in common - they all offer superb, genuine Kiwi
hospitality that you can't experience sleeping in a mobile-home
every evening staying at a camping ground. Besides, relationships tend
not to survive very well enduring 24 hours together in such a tiny
area, day after day! One sometimes needs the space, not to mention the
luxury of an unshared bathroom and toilet. Encounter real New
Zealanders and their wonderful lamb, beef, venison and fish cuisine.
New Zealand is known for its clean, green image and its produce
reflects this, with many of the establishments offering home cooked
meals. This is passive adventure at its best. You can

Driving in a foreign country is always different
in at least some ways to driving in your own country. Most visitors to
New Zealand are unaware of our different road rules and driving
conditions which has seen some horrific accidents involving weary and
jet-lagged tourists with innocent locals. Here are some general points
regarding driving in New Zealand:-
| |
Vehicles drive on the left-hand side of the
road as they do in Britain, Australia and Japan. |
| |
Visitors wishing to drive in New Zealand do not
require an international driver's licence but are required to
carry their own driver's licence from home whenever driving (must
have photo and be readable and understandable, otherwise an
international licence and/or translation is required).
|
| |
Speed limits are in kilometres per hour (kph),
not miles per hour (mph). |
| |
Speed conversion to imperial: 1 kph equals 0.621 mph.
Speed conversion to metric: 1 mph equals 1.61 kph. |
| |
The speed limit in towns and cities is usually
50 kph (31 mph). |
| |
The speed limit on the open road is 100 kph (62
mph). |
| |
New Zealand has strict drink-driving laws and
there are often road-blocks with officers testing for alcohol -
even during the day. Only low blood/alcohol levels are tolerated. |
| |
Seat belts must be worn at all times whilst driving in New
Zealand. This stands for the driver and passengers. It is also the
driver’s responsibility to make sure all passengers under the age
of 15 are correctly restrained. The instant fine is $150.00!
|
| |
In general, New Zealand road rules follow
international standards but please note that in New Zealand
vehicles turning left must give way to traffic turning right as in
the illustration below. But if you are in the vehicle turning
left, you DO NOT have to wait if there is another car coming up
behind you. Read this sentence again, as the confusion of the rule
is the biggest cause of accidents involving tourists in this
country.
Car A must give way (yield) to Car B

|
| |
There are very few multi-lane highways in New
Zealand and as such travelling times per distance travelled are
often longer than in other countries. The roads are also much more
winding. |
|
|
Petrol (gasoline) costs approximately NZ$1.50
per litre and is available in at least two grades (96 octane and
91 octane). All newer cars take 91 octane petrol. |
| |
Fuel conversion to imperial: 1 litre equals 0.26 US
gallons or 0.22 UK gallons.
Fuel conversion to metric: 1 US gallon equals 3.79
litres and 1 UK gallon equals 4.55 litres. |
All distances are shown in kilometres.
